Who Made the SmartStop Ads? 

Who is SmartStop? 

SmartStop Self Storage is a company that provides storage solutions for people and businesses. Their facilities are secure, climate-controlled, and designed to be convenient for short-term or long-term use. Essentially, they give you a place to put that life-size Storm Trooper that your wife said “doesn’t fit the decor of the dining room”.🙄

The Goal

For SmartStop, the goal was to create an ad suite the generate brand awareness. SmartStop hasn’t run TV ads in a while, and we were thrilled they tagged Video Brothers in to help them get the word out. 

The Strategy

Unlike our normal B2B clientele, SmartStop is B2C. So, what does that mean?

Well, realistically that doesn’t change much. We still needed to develop a concept that would be eye-catching and memorable, and that would effectively deliver the main message: SmartStop Self-Storage isn’t for junk, it’s for the sentimental treasures that need to be kept safe. 

We decided to personify items you would normally find in a storage container and depict a SmartStop storage container as a veritable Shangri-La for your most treasured items. 

Because of the consumer-facing nature of SmartStop, their ad suite looks a bit different from our usual fare. They didn’t need 6-second reminders, and there wasn’t much need for a CTA. Instead we created three ads that each touch on a different SmartStop Value Prop.

Hero Ads

Two 30-second spots that use humor to highlight SmartStop value props; The security and peace of mind you get when storing your things with SmartStop. 

Follow-Up Ad

Once 15-second follow-up ad to put a spotlight on SmartStop’s climate controlled storage units.
